Draniki (potato fritters) for Belarusians is sacred! In principle, every Slavic cuisine has a similar dish. And the ingredients are almost the same, but it’s in proportion. The real Belarusian draniki are made from potatoes, grated extra fine (“good-bye fingers”). Flour is used, but in very small quantities. Required salt and egg. In a foreign land, I began to add also a little juice from a grated onion on a grater. It hurts the potatoes to taste different from the Belarusian. Draniki are best to eat from the pan, hot and crunchy. Bon Appetit!
