Very often, a certain product due to the advertisemet in the media is becoming extremely popular. The Internet is singing odes about how adorable it is, how you will be cured of all the ailments, will solve your problems and bring harmony into your life. Of course, believing or not believing in this is everyone’s business. I am personally often confused by the fact that these odes are not confirmed by any studies.

But science sometimes fails. I remember the situation with spinach, when several generations were sure that it is a source of a significant amount of iron. It was believed that 100 g of leaves contained 30 g of iron. But it turned out that the scientists were just mistaken: the correct value is approx. 3 g / 100 g of leaves. In parsley, for example, ammount of iron is much larger than in spinach.

Sometimes I have a feeling that all this cheating “healthy food” – just the need for the market in order to increase the demand and sale of this product. Please note that this is my personal opinion.

Concluding this lyrical digression, I want to note that in spite of everything I am pleased to try all the products promoted by the mass media. Just for the sake of knowing what I’m talking about and what it is. That’s how I met kale. That is, I of course knew her before, since my grandparents lived in the village and this cabbage served as a food for adult animals (by no means for young people – since it is very difficult for the stomach to process). But that people it eat I learned recently. It can be found in almost every restaurant in Dubai. Whom you speak, they eat it at home and just admire.

I tried it at a party, in a restaurant, but I did not make any impression on me. Yes, and the price, I must say, is really high as for cabbage. It’s not gold, so much to cost.

Nevertheless, I decided to give kale another chance and started experimenting in my kitchen. The effect exceeded my expectations. Especially because it really became crispy and melted in her mouth. It turned out into a great snack, fast and tasty. Bon Appetit!

Baked kale chips

Ingredients:

  • 400 g of leaf cabbage
  • 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 tbsp dried garlic
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • a pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan

Cooking method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 220 ° C.
  2. Wash kale under running water, dry. Tear off the soft leaves from the stem and tear it into small pieces. Cover the tray with parchment paper, pour olive oil there. Stir by the hands so that the oil is evenly distributed on the kale. Sprinkle with a mixture of garlic, smoked paprika, salt and Parmesan. Delicately mix.
  3. Fry in a preheated oven with the grill for about 3-5 minutes (the kale should become crispy and melting in the mouth, but still green).

Bon Appetit! 🍽
