Despite the household routine and responsibilities with two small children, my husband and I still manage to invite guests to our home and surprise them at the table with some specialties. The husband, like a real man, drags a mammoth into the house and prepares wonderful meat dishes from it. I collect compliments for flambé shrimp with honey and cognac. Guests are delighted with my pizza, and recently this collection was replenished with Japanese sushi.

When we come to the parental home and celebrate something with the whole family, I want to surprise my parents with my culinary skills as well. It was under such circumstances that the recipe for cheese roll with green onions and surimi (or crab sticks) appeared.

Cheese roll with spring onions and surimi


Ingredients:

  • 300-400 g of Emmental or Cheddar cheese
  • small package of surimi or crab meat
  • 3-4 soft-boiled eggs
  • spring onions
  • ground black pepper

Cooking method:

  1. Grate the cheese on a fine grater.
  2. Lay out the grated cheese equally (so it will look like the cake) on the baking tray with baking paper.  Put it in the oven and melt it. Once the cheese is melted, remove the cheese from the oven and cool slightly.
  3. Grate the eggs. Unfold the crab sticks and line the melted cheese “cake” with them (you can grate and lay out in a layer). Put eggs on top and add the pepper.
  4. Sprinkle with chopped spring onions.
  5. Roll up roll. Wrap in plastic foil and cool down in the fridge for a couple of hours. Cut into the slices before the serving.
